Anthony Topper (known to all as TJ) has been an entrepreneur since before he knew what the word meant. At the early age of 9 years old the hustle started as he cut lawns in the summer, raked leaves in the fall and shoveled snow in the winter. He and life long friend R. Shawn McBride had their first business card together at age 10. They decided that they would combine as a team to start T & M Home Care.

At the ripe old age of 12 Topper started working for family friend Bill Paulshock at his Seafood and Catering company in Perry Hall, MD. He continued to work there while attending high school at Archbishop Curley in Baltimore, MD. After graduating high school Topper attended Community College at the Community College of Baltimore County and found himself at his first corporate restaurant TGI Friday’s.

Topper learned first hand about the corporate restaurant world and worked his way from being a waiter to an in-store trainer. As time went on Topper was presented with a new opportunity with Red Brick Station and The White Marsh Brewing Company.

TJ’s larger than life personality, endless enthusiasm, and amazing work ethic helped him to become the very first employee of the month for the now iconic restaurant. TJ eventually mastered almost every department before leaving Red Brick Station in 2004.

At the tender age of 24, he opened his very first restaurant, the very popular Chubby’s Grille, located in Perry Hall, MD and soon after a second location in Towson, MD. In 2011, TJ opened the Gunpowder Catering Company preparing some of the best pit beef in the state.

In April 2014, TJ looked to expand his collection of business projects to four starting a project with his partner, Chef Paul Lever. The two experienced restaurant workers saw the need in Harford County, Maryland for a restaurant, market, and catering company that serves wholesome, fresh, local quality foods & meals that busy individuals can pick up for themselves, their families, and for gatherings whether at home, in the office, or in the community. Together they opened Baldwin Meals.

In March of 2016 Topper was offered a position with DePalo’s Mid–Atlantic Resturant Supply where he became the director of business development for the company. DePalo serves as one of the leaders in the Maryland restaurant market. DePalo dose everything in the foodservice hospitality industry from design and layout of kitchens, equipment, small wares, paper, chemical supplies & janitorial products.
