R. Shawn McBride recently spoke about supporting your growth team.
Hi folks, Shawn here with you with an important concept that you can implement in your business today to help you make your plans even better. Those of you that know me know that I’m all about helping successful private businesses make plans to make their company stand the test of time. And how do you do that? How do you grow and become even bigger and even more powerful, to have something worth standing the test of time?
You’re going to need a growth team. You need other people involved in your business that are going to help you grow, they’re going to be part of your growth process. And how do you build your growth team? Well, my friend Dacia Coffey at the Marketing Blender had a wonderful idea. She said you need to support your growth team. And I think that’s excellent advice for all of us. We all need to think about who our team is. Who are those that we want to be closest to? Who do we want to build with? You know, Tony Robbins and others tell us that we’re the sum total of our five closest friends, that the people that we relate to, the people we see close, that becomes normal. Whatever they’re doing, that’s what we think is normal, that’s how we build our lives and that’s how we progress and I think there’s a lot of truth to that.
So, how do you build a team? Well, you’re not going to be able to attach necessarily to the most famous people that have already been successful, that have done it. But, there’s going to be other people like you that are building their companies, that are similarly situated, and these are going to be great role models. You want people that are thinking similar to you, that are doing things in a way that you believe in, that are ethically good, that are solid people. And these people you want to invest in, you want to build part of your growth team, you want to support each other to take your businesses to a higher level.
So this is not rocket science folks, but it’s about careful filtering and being very selective. You want the right people on your growth team, and then you want to nurture that growth team and grow it to the next level. So, a wonderful idea, something that’s going to help you take your plans and your company to the next level.
