Sometimes You Have a Long Climb

October 3, 2017 // R. Shawn McBride // No Comments »

R. Shawn McBride recently spoke about a parallel between life and business.

Hey folks, Shawn here with you talking about another parallel between life and business. If you’ve been following me on McBride for Business YouTube channel or the R. Shawn McBride Fans and Audience Page, you know that I like to draw parallels between life and business because I think the situations we encounter in life are microcosms of what we deal with in business and I think we can learn a lot from both.

One thing that happened to me recently, I was out on a long hike, and I was getting tired. And I was in a valley, and I had to get back up to the land above me to get back to civilization. And it was a very long climb, 100s of steps in front of me. But I was tired. And I had to climb, and I did, one step at a time. I did it or else I wouldn’t be here recording this video with you, right? One step at a time. But I hear the same story with business owners I work with. So many of them have had difficulties and challenges in their business. They’ve had things to overcome, and they’ve had to do it one step at a time. Fix a problem; go to the next problem. Build a customer base, one client at a time, one growth thing at a time. They had to build one piece of their business then the next piece of their business. So we see this parallel.

These challenges we have in our personal life where we’re building step by step by step, we’re taking a project step by step by step, our business is no different. We need to go step by step by step. So be inspired, know that you can do it, know that if you’re building the steps and you see that long road ahead of you, don’t stop and say oh my gosh the road’s so long, say yes, how am I going to do this? What steps am I going to take, how am I going to build my breaks in there, how am I going to rest, how am I going to do the things that I need to do to accomplish what I need to accomplish? That’s your challenge. How are you going to do that? Build the system. Build yourself, become great. We can all do it.

If you’re struggling with planning, and you’re thinking how do I build a plan like that, check out yourbusinessspeaker.com. That’s where I go out to audiences and help people do these types of things. Or McBride for Business, we have coaching available. We’d love to have a conversation and there might be a fit, see whether you might be somebody that we can help take to the next level. If not, we can part as friends. If so, we can build a plan and a regime to get you to really where you want to go.
