R. Shawn McBride recently spoke about his experience at the National Speakers Association Conference.
Shawn here with you talking about National Speakers Association Conference that just wrapped up. Five-day conference for myself. I started on Friday with the International Speaker’s Day. Attended a lot of great sessions; learned a lot about speaking. Networked with a lot of my fellow speakers.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with National Speakers Association, and in a thought leadership business, thinking about speaking, check it out. See if your local chapter’s got something for you. Or check out one of the national events. It was a really great experience. Wanted to mention a few things.
Mark Lindquist had a great program on motivation and connecting with your audience and really being yourself in front of the stage. I think he was well-regarded. People really enjoyed seeing him. He’s very authentic and true, which is a message we saw resonated throughout the conference. Be authentic; be yourself. Be who you are and do the things that you can do in order to embrace yourself, your uniqueness, and convey that to your audience. That’s so much of what we’re trying to do is thought leaderships.
Sylvie di Giusto had just an amazing program on how to build online programs and how to work with your audiences and really how to build it step by step. How not to get too fast ahead of things, for those of you who are thinking about going into that area. A lot of great information over the several days, so many panels. So many things I can’t even mention them all.
Lea Haben Woodford had a great program on how to do blogging, how to connect with your audiences. Really was good about selecting the material you want to get out there and really how to position it and make sure that you’re doing stuff that’s consistent with your brand.

I’ve got to get back to it. I’m planning my trip to Dublin for October, Women Inspires Network. That’s the big thing on the agenda today is getting the calendar moved around for October. Got a busy schedule with the radio show, a program coming up in September and some other stuff. So I’ve got to get everything to fit together. Want to come out and work with a lot of people.
