It’s Normal to be Overwhelmed

October 23, 2017 // R. Shawn McBride // No Comments »

R. Shawn McBride recently spoke about being overwhelmed in business.

Hey folks, Shawn here. I have a question for you. Are you feeling overwhelmed? Do you feel like you have too much going on in your business? Do you feel like you’re not quite getting there and things are happening just too quickly for you to rationally respond? Well, guess what? This is not an unusual situation.

Many times entrepreneurs feel overwhelmed and that’s okay. It is allowed for you to be overwhelmed. It is okay for you to be struggling a little bit. This is perfectly normal. In fact, it’s a positive sign. Do you know why? It shows you’re growing, you’re challenging yourself, you’re doing more than what you previously were capable of and you can grow into a whole another level of capabilities. So, being a little overwhelmed sometimes is actually a good thing.

So, how do we deal with being overwhelmed? Well, we want to have systems and processes. We want others around us helping us. When we have those kinds of things it allows us to do more and be more capable. So, being overwhelmed is not necessarily a bad sign, it’s a sign that something’s happening and you need to understand why.

Are you overwhelmed because of the routine? Or are you overwhelmed because of change and growth? If you’re overwhelmed because of the routine, we need to make fundamental changes. If you’re overwhelmed because of growth, we need to figure out whether it’s a temporary process or how to grow into a new channel. It’s okay at times to feel challenged and it’s something that’s showing that you’re doing great things. So don’t fret, if you’re a little bit overwhelmed. You may be right on the right path. You might be doing the right things at the right times for the right reasons, so keep doing it.
