If 5% Truly Love It: You Are Golden

September 25, 2017 // R. Shawn McBride // No Comments »

R. Shawn McBride recently spoke about pleasing 5% of the people.

Hey folks, Shawn here with you talking about fundamental principles for your business and it’s going to make a huge difference in your outcomes, and what you’re doing. If 5% of the people, just 5% of the people, love what you’re doing, you’re going to have huge differences. You’re going to have huge outcomes. You don’t need everybody to love you. 5%, 2%, even 1% of the marketplace. If you can get people really engaged, it’s going to make a huge difference.

There’s a lot of naysayers out there. There’s a lot of businesses out there that are running around, trying to please everybody. And when we try to please everybody, the old saying goes, we please nobody.

So what are you doing, how are you building, how are you keeping others engaged, and happy, and building your business? You want to engage, and get the satisfaction of those that really matter. Your niche, your market, your tribe. So you want to build around a small core of people that are super satisfied by you, that can think of using nobody else but your product or service. That really love your features, and what you’re doing for the marketplace.

Don’t try to please everybody. Those businesses that try to please everybody often fail, because they don’t do it. But those that focus on keeping 1% of the marketplace, half a percent of the marketplace, even sometimes a quarter percent of the marketplace, can make a huge impact, can make huge profits, and can have a satisfied, loyal and growing customer base. So stop trying to please everybody. Go for the small percentage. Build from there. And then enhance your business around that niche, and grow, and grow, and grow your way to greatness. Don’t try to please everybody, please that small percentage.
