Don’t Spend Time on Other Programs Until You Have a Plan

October 20, 2017 // R. Shawn McBride // No Comments »

R. Shawn McBride recently spoke about the importance of having a plan.

Hey, folks, Shawn here with you. Got some advice for you. You know there’s a lot of great programs out there from my fellow thought leaders, a lot of wonderful stuff, you know. How do you build a market? How do you build a speaking program? How do you write a book? All of this tremendous information everybody’s got an answer to everybody’s built a business off of that, but you know what? Everybody built a business based on their business model and I’m here to say, don’t start on that path until you have a plan you really want to build.

You know, I talk in my Three 3 of Empowerment program about preparing, planning, and then protecting. We really want to focus on that preparation step, we really want to make sure we’re prepared for where we’re going and we understand what that looks like. And so let’s start with having a vision of the future.

What is this going to look like? Where are you going to? How do you want to spend your time? And then we’re going to work backward. We really want to make sure before you spend a dime with any program that we understand what the vision is and what your life is going to look like and who you want to be. Once we understand where you’re going and what you want things to look like, then we can work back and build an individualized plan. Maybe utilize some of this great training that’s out there. I mean, there’s so much wonderful stuff from some of these thought leaders that can be amazing and you can build a custom program that combines elements of a couple. Honestly, you’re probably going to need two or three of them to really, really shine and do something amazing. But which two or three get combined for your particular recipe; that’s the question. So, before you invest a dime, stop and do the planning.

And that’s something that if you’re interested in, I can work with you on a one-on-one basis with. I’ve worked with other people on this, building their dreams, building their plans, working through their plans. It’s what I’ve done with clients for many, many years, now I’m doing it with entrepreneurs. I’ve executed my plans myself and built two successful businesses. Got a couple more that are spinning off, soon, so we’re really doing some great stuff and I would love to help you.
