R. Shawn McBride recently spoke about the importance of being on a podcast for your business.
Hey, folks, it’s Shawn here, talking about business development and why being on a podcast is great for your business. It’s probably not what you’re thinking. Most people think, oh, I want to be on a podcast, I’ll get exposed, people will see me and my business will build. And that’s certainly one reason to be on a podcast. I’ve appeared on a number of podcasts, I love being a guest. People will reach out to me, ask me to come on their podcast. Often I’ll say yes if it’s a good fit with my target audience. Love to do them.
I also now host a McBride for Business live podcast, and I get to talk with a lot of interesting people. But the reason why I think podcasts are so powerful, if you’re a thought leader, if you’ve got a business that not enough people know about and if you’re trying to get your message out there, podcasts are very powerful. And it’s not about the exposure. The exposure’s great, that’s a secondary benefit. What it does is, it forces you to think about your business and how you answer those questions. When you have that conversation with that host, you’re going to be thinking about your business, and your evolution, and what you’re doing, and how you answer those questions, and how you service those customers. And it’s great to do these things in a paper format, you certainly should. You should be working it out.
We talk about having your 10-year dream. And executing to get to where you want to go to, and that is something I highly encourage. But having that live format of talking, conversationally, explaining in a different way, not on one-on-one, but explaining, answering a host but for a large group, forces you to think about your business differently. It forces you to go through that process. So it’s a great secondary benefit.
So for those of you that are business owners out there, you wanna get your message out there, you want more people to know who you are, be a guest on some people’s podcasts. Check them out. See what’s there, you know? Write to me if you’re interested in being on a McBride for Business live podcast. We bring stories about what’s going right in business, we love that.
