If you’re like 48% of the people in the country, the candidate you voted for won the election. However, within that 48%, we understand some of those 48% didn’t really want Mr. Trump to win, but they picked him as the lesser of two evils. Forty-eight percent of the people didn’t get what they wanted, and their candidate lost. Another 2% of the people did something else, they voted for someone different, probably knowing that their candidate wasn’t going to get selected. There’s probably a bit of a hangover in the country. Some people are really disappointed with the election results, some people are really happy with the election results, and there’s a lot of uncertainty.
What’s going to happen next for small and medium businesses?
For most small and medium businesses, the election results will not have a direct effect on your day-to-day business. The business is going to continue to run the same. Your state, local, regulatory environment, is not going to change that much in the near future. Things may change in the future, but going to work tomorrow, and going to work, probably, for the next year, will all be the same. Congress and the legislative process will keep things from moving too quickly in any one direction. Unless you are specifically affected by some policy initiative of Mr. Trump’s, which is likely going to be prioritized high in his administration, you’re not going to feel a direct effect. For most of us, this is business as usual, and for 90% of businesses, there won’t be any immediate changes.
