Hey there everybody, R. Shawn McBride with you live again today. I want to talk to you about planning for planners. I’m going to be talking to the Tampa Bay Project Management Institute later today. Talking about planning to planners — you talk about pushing your expertise when you’re talking to people in your same field.

Why am I going to be there? What value can I add to planners about planning? Well, each of us brings our own perspective, and there are a couple things that I think are unique about how I look at the planning process. One thing I’m going to talk about tonight is how simple The 3 Laws of Empowerment are. I’m going to apply The 3 Laws of Empowerment to planning for planners. It’s really a very simple framework and model. The great thing about that is you can internalize it. It’s easy to think about. It’s not hard to process. A lot of people make planning very complicated, particularly when we’re pushing through our organizations. If we’re planning at the top level, maybe we’re comfortable with it, we’ve done a lot of planning over the years. Some of our staff and our teams haven’t used planning as much as us. There needs to be a simplified framework for them.

The other thing I want to talk about is planning from a team environment, from the employee relationship. So much of what I do is leadership-oriented, team-oriented, and I really want to talk about getting those plans down to the individuals and how planning works with different personalities and different styles. I think that’s something that’ll be a key theme tonight and I think we can all think more about it. One of the ongoing challenges is making those plans work and making our teams compromise and function as a unit. We have some great themes tonight. I’m very excited to get in front of other planners. I know it’s going to step up the game. I know the interaction’s going to be great. We’re going to learn a lot from each other. But I also want to get that message out there and think about new ways to do it. Planning is great.

If you’ve got an organization or group that can use a message about planning — and it doesn’t have to be other planners, it can be a corporate environment, it can be your organization, it can be a conference — I love speaking at national and regional conferences. If there’s a need out there for planning and there’s a need to really bring some rigor and analysis to it, get it working as a team, but also in a simplified function, I’m your guy. Give me a call. I would love to talk about speaking to your group, make something work, create a win-win for us, and step things up to the next level. I know we can do so much more as teams with plans. I’m hoping to help you and your organization with your planning needs. If I can do anything for you, please reach out to me directly. Drop a comment below. Let me know how I can help you. Tonight, planning for planners. I’m looking forward to it.
