Hunting and the Business World

December 7, 2016 // Sonya Jackson // No Comments »

This time of the year, many people participate in the sport of hunting, both men and women. It makes you think of the similarities of hunting and running a successful business. Using The 3 Laws of Empowermentplan, prepare and protect from R. Shawn McBride (www.rshawnmcbridelive.com/3laws) we can dive into these similarities.

#1 Hunters plan ahead where they are going to hunt, and what they are going to bring to the hunt. This is important as any hunter understands that if you don’t plan where to hunt and what to bring, you will not be successful in your hunt. The 3 Laws of Empowerment shows us that without a plan to succeed in business, we fail before we began.

#2 Hunters are disciplined and rise early in the morning in order to get a jump start on the day. Here, a business owner needs to be just as disciplined and diligent in his work efforts, as a hunter. One who intends on succeeding in business, plans ahead to hit it early on so that time is not wasted dragging around. Remember, there is a lot of competition out there in both business and in hunting.

#3 Hunters prepare ahead of time so that they can be ready for the exciting time when they spot their prey. One way hunters prepare ahead of time is by building their hunting stands. Now, this takes time and patience to build. Even if a hunter buys a stand already made, it takes time to shop around to pick out just the right one.  Likewise, preparing for business takes time, which is time well spent because success does not come automatically.

#4 Hunters have to invest in a hunting license in order to legally hunt. Similarly, in business, a business owner has to invest in equipment, supplies, marketing tools, professional advice and many other things.

#5 Hunters have to be patient and wait for their prey to make an appearance.  Likewise, in business, after all the planning, preparing, investing, marketing and networking, the business owner has to be patient – waiting for his customers to find him. It will happen. Remember, you are doing all the right things to attract them. It’s just a matter of time.

#6 Hunters protect themselves by wearing orange, so that other hunters won’t accidently shoot them. Business owners protect themselves with written agreements between them and their clients.

#7 Hunters protect themselves by hunting with a buddy, just in case an unexpected occurrence happens. Business owners protect themselves by planning for the unexpected, but likely occurrence such as from the 4 D’s – divorce, disability, disagreements, and death – stated in The 3 Laws of Empowerment.

All in all, there are a lot of similarities of hunting and applying The 3 Laws of Empowerment by planning, preparing and protecting yourself in business. If you want to know more about business, just go to www.mcbrideforbusiness.com/blog.
