It’s hard to be a franchisee these days. You’re getting pressure pushed on you upon all directions and you’re trying to keep everything together and grow your business. And I know it has a lot of challenges associated with it when you’re trying to grow and you’re dealing with all those pieces. And probably one of your biggest challenges is dealing with people. And not just your customers but your employees. There can be a lot of challenges and difficulties. And let me tell you, I feel you. I’ve been a business owner myself. I work with my employees. But I also advise a lot of business owners, including franchisees, about how to grow their business and how to deal with these common franchise issues that come up from time to time. In fact I was recently asked to pull together a list of the common human resource issues for franchises in connection with a presentation. And when I looked at it I saw there were a couple different broad categories of what’s going on.
First there’s the classic problems. Dealing with employees. Employees that misbehave. And keeping everybody in their lane and having clear processes, employment manuals, so that you as the employer have a lot of legal standing if there’s a problem. And so that you’re building the kind of company and culture you want.
There’s the emerging issues. How do we deal with some of the changing things such as social media and some of the federal government oversight and the rights that employees are getting in social media. And how do we dive into that?
And then there’s the future. How do we build organizations that really last and create tremendous value and get excited and motivated employees that are empowered? And we gotta do all of these at the same time and we gotta balance the past, the present, and the future, and make it all work.
Well I’ve done the hard work for you and I’ve put together a program which analyzes these types of things and works through these various issues so that you know what to focus on. Some key issues that you can go back to your attorney and talk to him about and put in place to really build a solid foundation. Things you can do to anticipate some of the upcoming problems. Make you aware, understand what’s happening. Understand how the federal government’s regulating social media, overtime pay, and other developments which are all happening right now. And then also build an organization for the future which is really going to propel growth to give you opportunities to create the wealth that you’re hoping to develop and to create more. All of this can be packaged together.
So if you’re a franchisee out there, you know, talk to your next conference. When you go to that next franchisee conference, talk to them. Have me come in. I would love to talk to your group and your organization. And if you’re a franchisor, you know we’d love to get in front of your franchisees and really explode these issues. I know there’s sensitivity. I know you don’t want to talk about these issues with your internal staff because of legal liability concerns. But I can bring a fresh outside business perspective to it and alert your people to these very very important issues.
And if you’re a franchisee and saying, “wow this guy only talks to conferences.” You know we can do some one on one coaching. I can come in and work with your organization and really provide some consulting advice to you.
