R. Shawn McBride recently spoke about deepening client relationships to improve your business.
Hi, folks. Shawn here with you. I want to talk to you about deepening client relationships and this is an important lesson for you in helping your business do more. You know, we each have things going on in our business. We have a lot of clients, we have relationships to match, but how do we make those relationships deeper? How do we really go more? And it always starts with listening and questions. Who are you? What do you do? How can I help you? What’s your next biggest challenge?
A lot of times I find by just having real conversations with my clients, stop, turn the clock off, have a real discussion and understand them, it makes a huge difference. We get so busy in the day to day. We are going, we have a lot of deliverables. We have people relying on us. It’s a lot of work. But stopping, seeing what’s going on, listening to what the client tells you, can make a huge difference. Helping that client with what they need, going to the marketplace saying hey, what are you missing? How can I help you? What is your biggest challenge? They can all make huge differences.
You know, we are often in service businesses, even when we’re not in the service business, we’re providing products. We’re helping somebody accomplish something. We are part of their team, we’re part of their ecosystem. We owe it to them to understand what’s going on.
So, I want you to think about going deeper and building deeper relationships with those you trust. Not everybody’s a fit for you. Your client has already raised their hand and told you that they’re a fit, that they want to be part of your ecosystem and you can work together. Now how do you make that better? How do you use that more? How do you use that existing foundation to do even more as a team in your ecosystem?
I challenge you to go out there and think about how to deepen these relationships. I want to stop for a second and say thank you. Thank you for watching my videos, thanks for being a part of my community. But more importantly, thank you for investing in you. You are the leaders of tomorrow and when you’re doing this kind of work, when you’re thinking about these kinds of things, you’re opening up new channels and that’s amazing and I’m proud of you for doing it. I think it’s amazing.
